New Ossining Area Seafood Eatery Debuts

Bistro 146 restaurant has replaced Nevaeh Cuisine on Bedford Road in the Old Village.

Bistro 146 is co-owned by Manager Michael Mazzella and Chef Marcello Cheque, who most recently served as executive chief at The Cask in New York City. He also has experience cooking at Ruby's Oyster Bar in Rye, with David's Catering in Stamford, CT, and at Scarsdale's Heathcote Tavern.

Longtime resident and local foodie John Fisher said Bistro 146 is the first seafood restaurant the village has had in many years. Mazzella and Cheque source their seafood from Conte's Fish Market of Mount Kisco, but also serve non-seafood entrees.

"We have it wasabi-dusted pan-seared yellowfin tuna that is delicious; we have a red snapper that is also pan-seared," said Mazzella. "We have lamb sliders, we have a coriander-encrusted rack of lamb."

Other menu highlights include a sweet potato gnocchi with lobster and appetizers such as panko-crusted crabcakes and white fish tacos.

Appetizers and salads on the Bistro 146 menu range from $9 to $14; entrées range from $17 to $29. Desserts, such as banana bread pudding and Rice Crispy tiramisu, range from $4 to $7.

The restaurant, which is adjacent to Michael's Tavern, can seat 23 diners indoors and an additional 20 outside. Bistro 146 will also offer catering.

Mazzella said Bistro 146 was packed for lunch following its grand opening on Friday and he's looking forward to serving locals, as well as those catching a late night show at Jacob Burns Film Center.

And the restaurant already has at least one local stamp of approval—at Monday's board of trustees meeting in Pleasantville, Trustee Jonathan Cunningham noted, "The bistro in the Old Village was a particular surprise. He's doing a very good job with what he's got up there."

Bistro 146 is located at 146 Bedford Rd. in Pleasantville. It is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Reservations are recommended: 914-495-3992.
