New York to Lower Flags to Half-Staff Sunday
Honor the memory of those who died and remember those in the US armed forces protecting us, says NY governor

Flags on New York state government buildings will be flown at half-staff on Sunday in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 men, women and children who lost their lives in the 2001 terrorist attacks.
"Fifteen years after the devastating and senseless terrorist attacks that shook New York and the nation to its core, we remember those lives lost on September 11, 2001," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo in his announcement. "Today, and every day since these horrific attacks, we remember those who were taken from us too soon, and honor the brave first responders who in our darkest hour put their lives on the line to save their neighbors and their fellow New Yorkers.
"As we honor the memory of nearly 3,000 individuals taken from us on that tragic day, let us not forget the members of the U.S. Armed Forces who continue to fight for our safety and our freedom – protecting our family, friends and neighbors, both in the U.S. and across the globe."
