OHS Principal Search: Weigh in on What's Wanted

Superintendent Ray Sanchez will hold a public meeting Jan. 12 for parents and interested community members.

OSSINING, NY — With Ossining High School Principal Josh Mandel retiring at the end of the school year, district officials are gathering information in the search for his replacement.

Schools Superintendent Ray Sanchez invites interested parents, guardians and community members to talk about what skills and strengths they'd like in the next principal.

WHEN: 6: 30 p.m. Jan. 12

"Participants will have the opportunity to share their insights as we begin this important process," he said in an email to the community. "Please know that I plan to hold similar meetings with our staff and students. The characteristics and feedback gathered will help to inform our process and will be shared with individuals on the interview committee and Board of Education. I look forward to seeing you on January 12th and if you should have any questions before this time please feel free to contact my office."

Sanchez's "search" for Mandel was the plot for this hilarious back-to-school video at the end of August. Now he has started searching in earnest for a replacement. Mandel has been a principal in the Ossining school system for 22 years, and was at OHS when it emerged as a powerhouse in the successful promotion of academic success throughout its diverse student population.
