Ossining Farmers Market OPEN on Sat 5/16 + New Pasture-Raised Meat Vendor

Ossining Farmers Market begins cooking series with Open Door + spring foods begin to arrive!

Have you met Sunset View Farm yet? Led by Chris Harmon and his wife, Kara, they recently joined the Ossining Farmers Market to offer pasture-raised meat. Not only is Chris an expert livestock farmer, he’s also committed to the economic development of all regional farms in Hudson Valley. Prior to running Sunset View Farm full-time, he was the Director of CADE, the Center for Agricultural Development & Entrepreneurship. He‘s both a man of vision and a practitioner when it comes to life on the farm. Sunset View Farms now has beef, pork, and other meats available at the market. Stop by this Saturday to talk with Chris and pick up some of their delicious products.

Also, on Saturday May 16th, Down to Earth Markets will begin the first in a series of cooking demonstrations with WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) nutritionists. This new program is offered in collaboration with Open Door to share ideas for easy and healthy meals sourced from the farmers market. Stop by anytime tomorrow between 10 am to noon and taste what they’re creating!

Every week, the Ossining Farmers Market offers fresh produce, breads, cheese, meat, poultry, eggs, prepared foods to go and much more. Next Saturday, May 23rd, we’ll officially open the summer session of the market. In doing so, we’ll welcome back certified-organic Taliaferro Farms and Madura Farms, as well as some new vendors. Stay tuned to the Patch for full details next week!
