Ossining Girl Scouts Launch First Annual Scarecrow-a-Palooza

What do Scarlata, Daisy, and Ralph all have in common? They are three of the 19 scarecrows that have popped up around Ossining in Scarecrow-A-Palooza, the first of what is planned to be an annual event by Ossining Girl Scouts.

Each scarecrow was crafted by an Ossining Girl Scout Troop to brighten up October and celebrate the season. There are over 500 girls in the Ossining Girl Scout community — one of the largest Girl Scout communities in the seven-county Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson Council.

Collaborating with the Ossining Parks and Recreation Department, whose staff chose the sites and dug the holes for the scarecrows, the Ossining Girl Scout troops erected their creations during the weekend of October 18-19. The scarecrows will stay up until the weekend of November 8-9.
