Ossining High School Advances in Robotics Tournament

OSSINING, NY — Ossining High School won three awards at the Hudson Valley Regional FIRST Robotics competition.

Students from OHS were among 47 teams of high school students from the U.S. and Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, India, Turkey and the United Kingdom that competed at Rockland Community College March 24-26.

The OHS team qualified for the national finals in St. Louis. A total of seven teams, including Clarkstown North High School, qualified.

"These young people are our future scientists, engineers, mathematicians and creative-thinkers," County Executive Ed Day said, thanking FIRST New York for holding the event at RCC. "Events like this bring young people together and give them an opportunity to learn and perfect their skills."

Founded in 1989 and based in Manchester, New Hampshire, FIRST is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity designed to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology, and to motivate them to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math).
