Ossining Launches New Summer Free Lunch Program

The school district is offering the federally funded program through late August

The Ossining School District is starting a new program today that will provide free lunches to school-age children this summer.

The Summer Food Service Program will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays at Ossining High School, 29 South Highland Ave. It will run through Aug. 26. There is no charge for children younger than 18.

Ossining schools are offering the federally funded Summer Food Service Program in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture.

About 400,000 free meals will be served each day at 2,900 sites across the state, according to the New York State Department of Education, which works with the USDA to administer the Summer Food Service Program in New York.
