Ossining Roundabout Discussion to Continue, Resolution to Defund it to be Tabled
Village officials are asking for more people to weigh in on their wishes for downtown.

OSSINING, NY — Ossining village officials plan tonight to table a resolution to defund their proposed roundabout.
They're still making plans for the April 6 meeting to discuss what to do with the heart of downtown, which they called when they called for a breather in the roundabout ruckus.

Village officials issued a statement on Wednesday:
At tonight's public meeting, it is the Board of Trustee's intention to make a motion to table the resolution defunding the roundabout.
The meeting will take place at Village Hall, 16 Croton Avenue. Anyone wishing to comment on the roundabout, will be invited to do so for up to 3 minutes. Due to a lengthy agenda, the televised portion of the meeting will begin at 7pm. The roundabout related items will begin at 7:30pm.
Two weeks ago, we began a cooling off period, and it has not yet fulfilled its purpose. The Board is continuing to reach out to community members, and responding to the voices of Ossining residents in real time. We ask that you continue to express your thoughts on this project and this process. The adversarial tone that was the hallmark for much of this public discussion, is shifting to a collaborative tone.
This is a moment when no path is irreversible. Nothing has been constructed. Nothing has been defunded.
Some folks responded to the March 8 meeting by retreating to their corners. Others responded by reaching out to people who had previously been adversaries. Some voices that had been silent, are speaking out for the first time.
Please tune in to tonight's work session. Following public comments on the roundabout, will be a Board discussion of the agenda for the upcoming meeting on April 6, 7pm at the Ossining Public Library. It will be a Community Meeting that brings us together to discuss the heart of our downtown. It is not a legislative session. It is not a work session. And we won't even have a timer.
