Youth Volunteers Dedicate Lego Robotics to Ossining Children's Center

Town Officials will join youth volunteers in dedicating Lego Education robotics sets to the Ossining Children's Center on January 19.

From the Ossining Children's Center: Town of New Castle Supervisor Robert Greenstein, Town of Ossining Supervisor Dana Levenberg and Village of Ossining Mayor Victoria Gearity will join youth volunteers in dedicating new Lego® Education robotics construction sets, software and activity packs to the Ossining Children’s Center (OCC), a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization providing high-quality, affordable childcare for working families.

The new STEM education tools were purchased with a Disney Summer of Service grant awarded to Logan Taveira, 15, Sam Kaplan, 16, Anabela Taveira, 13 and Annie Segal, 13, all of Chappaqua, N.Y., for their volunteer work bringing STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities to the children in the After School Enrichment Program at the OCC.

Youth Service America (YSA) and The Walt Disney Company, including Disney/ABC Television Group and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media, teamed up this summer to inspire kids and families to make a positive impact in their community. Disney Summer of Service grants offer young change-makers $500 to gather their friends and turn creative ideas into projects that will positively impact their communities.
