Hometown Hero: Local Resident Hailed 'Wonderful Hero and Person'

PATCHOGUE, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

Michael Egan nominated his co-worker, Patchogue resident Daniel Newman, who works as an EMT and part-time firefighter. Egan chose his co-worker to be a Hometown Hero because he wanted everyone to know "how wonderful [Newman] is as a hero and person."

Not only is Daniel one of the best FDNY firefighters to ever graduate from the Fire Academy he is also a fantastic Volunteer EMT and Firefighter with the Patchogue Ambulance Co.
