Medford Company Receives $42K From NY State
B&R Industries is one of the recipients of more than $100 million earmarked for Long Island projects.
Medford’s B&R Industries is receiving $42,000 from Strategic Plan and Regional Award money that is going to businesses throughout the state.
“I’m excited because this is a big step in our 40 year history as a manufacturing company,” Chris Burian, owner of B&R industries, said.
B&R Industries specializes in metalwork and in plastic. Burian said that the company manufactures metal parts and does precision metal working for customers in a variety of industries including factory automation, robotics and hydraulic control systems.
The award Burian’s company is receiving is part of more than $100 million announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo that is going toward numerous projects across Long Island.
The money for B&R Industries is going toward training staff and preparing the company to secure ISO quality certification, which Burian says will allow the company to become more attractive to companies in all industries.
“The state and county government have put their money where their mouth is as far as job creation,” Burian said.
He was also looking forward to the upcoming repeal of the MTA Payroll Tax Repeal.
Burian added that the money will help the sustainability of the jobs at the company.
“It’s helping us become a more marketable company globally, which brings in dollars to the local economy,” he said.
Burian also said that while he has received support from the state and county levels of government, that there has not been much support from the Town level and would like there to be more property tax relief for businesses.
B&R Industries is currently hiring. The company is located at 12 Commercial Blvd. in Medford and can reached at 736-2275.
