From Pelham Middle School: Pelham Middle School eighth grader Vikram Jallepalli will compete in the 2017 New York National Geographic State Bee on Friday, March 31. This is the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition, which is now in its 29th year. Vikram advanced to the state competition after placing first in a school-wide bee held in December. He then took a qualifying test, which was submitted to the National Geographic Society. Vikram is only the second Pelham Middle School student to advance to the state bee since the school began participating.
Each state champion will receive $100, the “National Geographic Concise Atlas of the World, 4th Edition” and a trip to Washington, D.C., to represent their state in the National Geographic Bee Championship to be held at National Geographic Society headquarters, May 14-17, 2017.
