GoFundMe Launched For Plainview Family Displaced After Nearly 3 Decades Because Of House Fire

PLAINVIEW, NY — The Plainview community has rallied together to support a family who has been displaced after a house fire last week.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help the family – a husband, wife, son, and two dogs – which has raised more than $16K from 166 donors. The organizer shared on the GoFundMe page:
"On February 10th, a fire forced the Leibmans from their home of 28 years into the freezing cold.

A neighbor said he heard the fire trucks, and he couldn't believe they were so close. He said the smoke was "billowing out of the house."
He said Julia was already out of the house and later learned that she, one of her sons, and their two dogs were in the house, but all four were out safe.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said the Plainview Fire Department received a call for a house fire at 3:07 p.m. on the afternoon of Feb. 10.
The first FD units on scene observed a 2-story home on Sherman Ave. with a fire on the second floor that extended into the attic – a second alarm was transmitted, fire marshals said.
Fire marshals said three residents were displaced, and the Red Cross was notified. There were approximately 75 firefighters on scene, and the fire was brought under control within 45 minutes, fire marshals said.
