Holy Saturday Observances Today in Plainview
The day also commemorates the lesser known "Harrowing of Hell."
Today is Holy Saturday, the day Christian tradition holds the crucified Jesus of Nazareth spent in repose in the tomb before his Resurrection on Easter. It also commemorates the lesser known "Harrowing of Hell," the day Jesus descended into Hell (or perhaps, Limbo) to free the souls of the righteous, including a host of Old Testament Patriarchs.
Both of Plainview's Roman Catholic churches in town hold Easter Vigils Saturday at 8 p.m.; other Plainview churches have events, as well.
Each day the "5 Things" column will tell you five essential pieces of information you need to know today, like events happening or community topics being covered on the site later on in the day. Have an event or topic that should appear in this column? Add it to the calendar or send us a news tip.
