Nassau Firefighters Museum to Benefit from Shopping Wednesday Night at Fairway
Supermarket on Manetto Hill Road will donate a percentage of the proceeds to 9/11 memorial.
The Nassau Firefighters Museum and Education Center is the beneficiary of a
dedicated shopping night from in Plainview on
Wednesday, April 27, from 4 - 10 p.m.
A percentage of the store’s proceeds will go to the museum, to help build the upcoming 9/11 memorial exhibit. The new exhibit is set to debut in late August.
Firefighters and others on Long Island are encouraged to shop at Fairway to help support this important cause.
The 5,000 square foot exhibit will be a memorial for the 10th anniversary of the tragedy of September 11th. This one-of-a-kind display will help remind Long Islanders of the sacrifices made by the active Nassau County volunteer firefighters who lost their lives that day, as well as the impact the event had on our entire region, especially on the fire service. A formal opening of the exhibit will be held the week of September 11, 2011.
The memorial will contain a number of areas, featuring the Nassau County volunteers and a timeline of the day's events from the New York State Museum. Additionally, the exhibit will display artifacts from that tragic day, news coverage and footage, videos, personal effects from those lost, various interactive places to capture family members' and friends' thoughts and reflections, and more.
The exhibit will highlight the lives of the active Nassau County volunteers in the center of the exhibit and pay tribute to the many who once were volunteers.
