Palm Sunday Begins Holy Week; Passover Begins Monday Evening

There are cultural options around Plainview Sunday as well.

Today is Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week in Christianity. There are services all over town, celebrating the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem around 30 AD , just days before his crucifixion.

Monday evening is the First Night of Passover, which commemorates the Exodus of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt and their ultimate deliverance to the Promised Land. The stories of these monumental events in human history will be told all over our community this week, in churches, synagogues, and around family dinner tables.

Each day the "5 Things" column will tell you five essential pieces of information you need to know today, like events happening or community topics being covered on the site later on in the day. Have an event or topic that should appear in this column? Add it to the calendar or send us a news tip.
