Plainview Churches to Hold Solemn Good Friday Services

All area churches have events today.

Today is Good Friday, the most solemn day in the Christian calendar, the day that commemorates the Crucifixion of Jesus at the hands of Roman prefect Pontius Pilate around 30 AD. Just 300 years later, the Roman Empire adopted Christianity as its state religion and changed Western history.

There are Good Friday services in most area churches. Many businesses close early today, but banks and government offices are open.

Each day the "5 Things" column will tell you five essential pieces of information you need to know today, like events happening or community topics being covered on the site later on in the day. Have an event or topic that should appear in this column? Add it to the calendar or send us a news tip.
