Plainview's CAP Presents New Musical Production

It's one of many cultural activities around town this weekend.

The Cultural Arts Playhouse presents a new musical production beginning Friday night about a man's personal journey through his fears. It's one of many cultural options around Plainview today.

1. The  , presents the American composer William Finn's autobiographical musical "A New Brain." The 1998 musical, which opened off Broadway to critical success, is one man's story about conquering his fear of dying with his greatest songs still unwritten. While stuck writing stories for children's TV, a brain injury puts his life in perspective. Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets: $20.

2. The presents an exhibit entitled "Neighbors Who Disappeared," a moving series of panels made by young people to commemorate the Jews lost in . Exhibit will run every week on Tuesdays-through-Fridays until May 1. Open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; free and open to the public.

3. Department of Theatre and Dance presents its spring dance concert Friday at 8 p.m. The program consists of original modern dance pieces choreographed by Prof. Stanley Berke. Price: $9; $7 for seniors and children under 18.

4. Good Shabbat to all:  The  is among the many local synagogues welcoming Shabbat tonight. Friday's service is from 7:30-9 p.m. and is open to everyone in the community. Afterwards, the congregation has a chance to nosh (snack) and kibbitz (socialize).
