Question of the Day: Other 'Can't Dos?'

Our stories about what you CAN'T locally touched a chord. What else can't you do in Plainview?

What else can't you do anymore in Plainview?

Our story Thursday on Patch brought up memories for many of us. Patch Facebook friends told stories about other closed movie houses and relics of Plainview's past.

They're so good we're going to run another story about them today.

One of the 5 items was this: "You can't get a burger, fries, onion rings and a taco in one place. There used to be a "Jack in the Box" on the corner of South Oyster Bay and Old Country roads. It was open late and the bar crowd would head there at 3 in the morning and order a Jumbo Jack, fries, rings and the greasiest tacos in recorded history. Just delicious. About four bucks. There's a  on that corner now (alas; no tacos.)"

Overnight, Plainview Firefighter recalled details of how the corner of South Oyster Bay and Old Country roads has changed (There were gas stations there.) He remembers the names of all the movie theaters.

Patch Contributor pointed out you can still get tacos on that corner along with burgers, but you've got to go to the Taco Bell on the Hicksville side of S. Oyster Bay Road, then hit the Burger King on the southeast side.

It's a conversation that became a trending topic on Twitter: #5thingsyoucantdo.

So: We're open to more memories. Send them our way and, please, if you have them, send us photos of those old Plainview landmarks. We'll run them in a story later today.
