"Supermoon" to Light Purim Celebrations Saturday Night
There's a free concert at the library Saturday night.
It's Saturday March 19, or 14 Adar in the Hebrew calendar, meaning Purim arrives tonight at sundown. There are celebrations all over Plainview, and revelers will be treated to a brilliant "supermoon" on their way home.

2. There's a lunar perigee tonight, when the moon passes at its closest point to our planet in 18 years (356,577 kilometers; 221,567 miles.) The event — also called a “supermoon,” occurs when a new or full moon is at 90 percent of its closest orbit to Earth. The moon will be full and at 100 percent on Saturday night, and clear skies are predicted.
3. The Plainview hosts a free concert featuring the a classical crossover group that offers a wide array of music. Concert at 8 p.m.

4. The s theatre and dance department presents the dark, 1966 Broadway hit which captures the repression and anti-Semitism that marked the rise of the Third Reich. Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 3 p.m. Price: $15, $12. for seniors 55 and older, free for current college students.
