Toy Show Coming to Plainview

Sunday show to feature collectibles and characters.

Dealers who specialize in toys and collectibles from the 1960s will gather in Plainview Sunday to buy sell or trade their wares.

Those attending the Long Island Toy Show at theare encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters from comic books, movies or toys.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 501st Legion, a group that promotes interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of costumes, will be represented by the Empire City Garrison, the New York-based chapter of the legion. Members work to encourage the use of Star Wars costumes through costumed charity and volunteer work.

The Rebel Legion, the good-guy counterweight to the 501st Legion. Members of the Northeast chapter, Echo Base, will be represented.

Also participating are:

 Authors Mark Bellomo, who writes about action figures  and various elements of pop culture, and Russ Colchamiro, who wrote a science fiction comedy, “Finders Keepers.”

The Long Island Ghostbusters, a fan-based group that uses the Ghostbusters theme in their volunteer efforts.
