A Crucial Catch Day: Open Door teams up with the NFL and the American Cancer Society to Fight Breast Cancer

Community Health Center Offers Free Screenings, Mammography Appointments, and Education to women 40+ October 25

(Port Chester, NY – October 20, 2014) As part of a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Football League (NFL), Open Door Family Medical Centers has received $50,000 to provide services and clinical breast exams to women who are 40 and over. On Saturday, October 25, Open Door will host “A Crucial Catch Day: a day to fight breast cancer” in Port Chester from 9am-2pm. The event is free and registration is encouraged. To register call Paola Maureira at (914) 406-8251. Those who attend without reservations will be seen based on provider availability. Open Door is located at 5 Grace Church Street in Port Chester.

A Crucial Catch Day will celebrate health and provide information and education about how to reduce the risk of breast cancer, and how to detect it early. Free clinical breast exams and mammography referrals will be available throughout the day. The event is designed for women 40 and over who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months, with or without insurance, or with insufficient insurance for breast cancer screenings. There will be refreshments and activities for children.

At 10am, Lindsay Farrell, President & CEO of Open Door Family Medical Centers will be presented with the check for $50,000 by Christina Faber, Senior Director of Primary Care Systems, Eastern Division of the American Cancer Society.
