God's Love Is Transparent, March 15, 10:30am

Sunday morning worship service at First Baptist Church of White Plains

We hear a lot about “transparency”. Usually it’s a call to reform in response to someone who got caught doing something they shouldn’t have been doing. Whether it’s a corrupt politician, a doping athlete, or an embezzling banker, the calls for transparency are vocalized. Transparency implies openness, communication and accountability. Shining a light on the behaviors of people, governments, institutions, and corporations; more transparency is needed. Shining light and exposing things as they are for all to see, that is the essence of transparency and it isn’t necessarily comfortable when the light is on you!

This passage in John is speaking about the transparent love of God – “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son”. Later, it says, “Whoever does the truth, comes to the light so that it can be seen that their actions were done in God.” We are called to live as God loves – transparently. Being whole-hearted people, living in God’s light in a world of shadows and fear of exposure. Let our prayer be to have the courage to live in God’s light!

Fellowship hour in Wilson House follows worship. Free parking.
