Port Jeff Station Man Loses Control Of Car, Dies In Crash: PD

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — A man was killed in a car crash early Thursday morning in Port Jefferson Station, and Suffolk police are investigating.

Joel Almanzar was driving a 2014 BMW sedan on Green Avenue, off Bicycle Path, when the car veered off the roadway, hit a parked car and smashed through a fence before colliding into a tree and a shed around 1:30 a.m., police said.

Almanzar, 35, of Port Jefferson Station, was brought to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
