Students in Christine Wicks’ and Christine Bokina and Kristi Krieg’s classes learned about the Peace Crane Project as well as how to fold an origami crane and write a message of peace on its wings. Laura Kelly and Paige Lohmann’s class wrote letters to peers in a school in Essex, United Kingdom, that described the Port Jefferson school community and what it is like to grow up in a close-knit village by the harbor.
“It was a fun project and the students enjoyed learning about the International Day of Peace,” Ms. Kelly said. “Their efforts are empowering in making a difference in the school, community, country and world.”
