Brooklyn Museum Announces September Reopening
The museum will return Sept. 12, a few weeks after Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Aug. 24 start-date for museum reopenings.
PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — The Brooklyn Museum will reopen in September as indoor museums and cultural institutions get the OK from the state to welcome back New Yorkers with new coronavirus restrictions, the museum announced this week.
The Brooklyn Museum revealed that it is planning a Sept. 12 reopening after months of staying closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
The opening date comes a few weeks after Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Aug.24 start-date for indoor cultural institutions to start reopening their doors.

Cuomo's announcement came with restrictions for such "low-risk" spaces to stop the coronavirus' spread. They must have 25 percent maximum occupancy, time ticketed and staggered entry and require face coverings, he said.
At the Brooklyn Museum has started planning festivities for its opening weekend, many of which will be outdoors.

The events include musical performances, chalk drawing and food offerings from local vendors on its plaza, according to the New York Times.
Inside, it will premiere an exhibit originally scheduled for March entitled “Studio 54: Night Magic."
