BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — The doors may be physically shut at Brooklyn Public Library's branches, but virtually is a whole other story.

Brooklyn Public Library on Thursday announced it launched an online, "virtual" library just in time for patrons weathering the new coronavirus storm from home.

Like its New York City and Queens counterparts, Brooklyn Public Library closed its doors this week to help limit the spread of COVID-19. The closure will last until at least March 31.

But until the doors open again, the library system is touting its online offerings.

For children, those range from virtual story times, to an online Mario Kart tournament and finally to a teen writing contest.

The library has an extensive online archive featuring such goodies as Bernie Sanders' high school newspapers. Those and more can be read online.

Or perhaps people want to find a new e-book to read after browsing the library's offerings of current newspapers and magazines.
