Julia Weldon + Deuces Wild + Tommy Kodak and the Loaders + The Buckstops @ The Way Station

7pm- Julia Weldon
Genre:  Indie-Folk Pop
For fans of:  Elliot Smith, Tegan & Sara, Iron & Wine

Light Is a Ghost is the follow up to self-taught Brooklyn indie-folk-pop artist Julia Weldon’s 2008 self-titled debut. Produced by Saul MacWilliams (Ingrid Michaelson, Dan Romer) and featuring Adam Christgau (Sia, Tegan and Sara) on drums, the album showcases Weldon’s storytelling, voice, and unmistakable charisma. Defined by its brash honesty, Light Is a Ghost is an American album in the truest sense. With an emotional resonance bigger than her own experience, Weldon tells the story of both the harsh city edges and limitless, open spaces. The album captures the feel of the open road on a late summer evening, while ruminating on past relationships that creep into that serenity.

"An almost perfect record." - NO Depression

“New York-based singer-songwriter Julia Weldon might be the most soulful singer you’ve never heard of.” -The Advocate

“One of the primary keys to being a good and successful singer/songwriter is the ability to be honest. Stories, emotional arcs, none of this means a thing if it’s clear the artist is just putting on airs for a given occasion, playing something because it might create a cynically predetermined effect on the audience. None of this ever feels like a problem for Julia Weldon.” -The Washington Times

“On her new record ‘Light Is a Ghost,’ singer-songwriter Julia Weldon acts as… every good dream that’s worth preserving after the alarm clock goes off.” -The Deli NYC

Deuces Wild, a dynamic duo transplanted from MA, bring the sounds of nostalgic anthems from the 90's and modern favorites, often infused with a reggae twist, as well as a solid mix of original music. With crisp vocals, a bright steel-stringed acoustic guitar, a Peruvian drum, and limbs full of percussion, Scott Borecki and Steve Mackiewicz will make your head bob and your body move. You may even catch yourself singing along.

9pm- Tommy Kodak and the Loaders
Genre: Country Rock/Folk
For fans of: Presidents of the United States of America,  J.D. Crowe and the New South

Born from a single recording session, Tommy Kodak and the Loaders began as a studio experiment.   But the Loaders decided one song wasn't enough, so they answered the call of the cockerel and produced a full length album.  The process left them with an organically grown live show, and a sound that draws influence from Kentucky newgrass, 90's rock radio, and maybe something that used to ride the railroad tracks.  The members of the band come from Louisville, San Francisco, and New England; it is rumored that none of them listened to the same music growing up.

10pm- The Buckstops
Genre: Blues/Country/Americana
For fans of: Cash/Dylan/Waits/Earle /Hank/Lucinda

The Buckstops are an acoustic band featuring the bluesy, contralto voice of Julie Margolies, backed by music industry veteran Jonathan Horn (guitar and vocals), with Joel Darelius (bass) and Richard Bryant (guitar, harmonica and vocals) rounding out a (drummer-free) quartet. They draw tunes from the Americana songbook, covering H. Williams, L. Williams, Cash, Dylan, Waits, Earle, and L. Cohen, and their own writing is inspired by the same cast of characters.
