Police: Brooklyn Woman Arrested After Attempting to Shop With Fake Check
The woman attempted to purchase items at a store in Tanger Outlets.

A Brooklyn woman was arrested after attempting to buy items at a store in Tanger Outlets in Riverhead with a fake travelers check on Friday night, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Riverhead Police Department responded to Polo Ralph Lauren Children’s Outlet at the Tanger Outlet Center to a report of a female possibly in possession of a forged $100 American Express Travelers Check at about 8:30 p.m., police said.

After further investigation it was determined that the check was in fact forged, according to police.

The woman who attempted to use the check was identified as Deja R. Kilpatrick, 18, according to police.
Upon search incident to arrest Kilpatrick, she was found to be in possession of another fake $100 check, police said.

She was transported to Riverhead Town Police Headquarters for arrest processing.
