Hookahs and Engravings: Cedar Gifts & More Opens in Dobbs Ferry

Cousins Eddie and Ghandi Marti opened Cedar Gifts & More on Cedar Street in Dobbs Ferry about one week ago—

Though their merchandise may be enticing to teens, the owners maintain a strict "no admittance under 18" policy. Besides hookahs, they sell cigars, glass bongs, incense, candles, leather accessories, engravings and t-shirts. 

"We are definitely not a head shop because we sell other things; also everything is meant for use with tobacco," Eddie said, refuting the common perception in this country that hookahs and bongs are meant for smoking marijuana. 

A water pipe through which one smokes tobacco (sheesha)—and sometimes other things—hookahs and hookah bars have become increasingly popular in the United States. 

"Smoking hookah is a social thing," Eddie said. "It's not as addictive as smoking cigarettes; it's not like you can carry a hookah around in your back pocket like a cigarette." 

Gifts and More is located at 43 Cedar Street in Dobbs Ferry. They are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 12 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Eddie said: "Here you have hookahs; next door, you have espresso. What more could you want?"
