Healing Arts Collective Rye Gives Us Reason to Pause to Play

Pause to Play on February 1st, 7-9pm

Stuart Brown, founder of the National Institute for Play, tells us that, “play – shapes the brain, opens the imagination and invigorates the soul.” In an overscheduled, stressful world, it is more important than ever for adults to make time for play. Beyond reducing stress, play provides an escape, models healthy living for our children, and creates deeper connections with others. The Healing Arts Collective seeks to explore these benefits by encouraging adults to play at the upcoming community-wide event, Pause to Play.

Humans need play in the same way that they need purpose, relationships and learning opportunities. We acknowledge that children learn through play, but we often overlook the role it has in adult growth and learning. Play sparks creativity, and adults at play, like children, often lose track of time and all other responsibilities. While engaged in play, people can learn new skills, develop innovative ideas, strengthen mental and physical muscles, or just completely let go and immerse themselves in the experience. The Healing Arts Collective looks forward to bringing play to our community with the intention of inspiring positive change.

This workshop is free to the public and any donations made the evening of will go directly to support Rye Recreation Camp Scholarships. Please register at healingartscollectiverye.org.
