Five year's worth household income data was reviewed to determine the list.

One Hudson Valley community can say it is thought to be, according to a new list — “Americas Richest Towns” — compiled by 24/7 Wall St. Rye, located in Westchester on the Long Island Sound, came in at No. 30 on the list.

Rye’s median household income is $162,394 and its median home value is $1,107,000. Almost three-quarters of its adult residents — 73.2 percent — have a bachelor’s degree.

The poverty rate for Rye is 3.3 percent, the report said.

The richest town in America, according to 24/7 Wall St., is Los Altos Hills, CA. The median household income there is $243,701.

To determine America’s richest towns, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed five-year household income data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey in every American town with a population between 1,000 and 25,000.

In all of the 30 wealthiest towns, the share of adults with a least a bachelor’s degree is more than twice the national college attainment rate of 30.3 percent.

The survey found that a majority of the wealthiest towns are suburbs of major cities, and many residents of the richest parts of the country commute to high-paying jobs in neighboring metropolises. Rye is about a 45-minute Metro North ride from Manhattan.
