Jamieson Saves Game for Poppy's
Poppy's Ballbuster's Donna Jamieson tags out Hot Shotz Erica Mayus to give her team the win.
Poppy's Ballbuster's Donna Jamieson prevented Hot Shotz Erica Mayus from tying the game at 6-6 in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday.
Jamieson put the tag on Mayus for the last out, going down over homeplate on her left shoulder and hip with Mayus in a heroic effort for the 6-5 win.
It was all about teamwork for Jamieson who curiously asked while still on the ground,"Was she out?"

"She made a great play," he said. "Beautiful play."
Hot Shotz Coach Jennifer Battaglino also praised Jamieson.
"I commend her for hanging onto the ball in such a tough play like that," she said.
Jamieson's teammates led her off the field in victory.
Piovesan is also proud of the way his whole team performed throughout the game.
"The girls played their hearts out tonight," he said.
Battaglino was in good spirits despite the loss.
"I think they were very evenly matched teams and it was a great game," she said.
The Hot Shotz held a 1-0 lead through three and a half innings until Poppy's took over 3-1 in the top of the sixth.
The Hot Shotz had a chance at redemption with the bases loaded in the fifth, but Ballbuster Yolanda Boyce's catch with the bases loaded in the fifth inning ended their chance for a comeback.
A Mayus triple soon tied it at 3-3 in the top of the sixth inning on a Denise Enlund single.
The Hot Shotz continued to hold a 5-3 lead until Stephanie Shaughnessy's three-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth scored Debbie Unger and Dee Ostrowski to put the Ballbuster's up one for the eventual 6-5 victory.
Shaughnessy also contributed well in left field with great catches when it counted for Poppy's.
Battagliano struckout one and walked one in seven innings pitched for the Hot Shotz.
Gerri Piovesan struckout two and walked one in six innings pitched for Poppy's. Sharon Liguori closed out the game, recording the save on the mound.
Second place Poppy's improves to 6-3 on the season as the Hot Shotz fall to 3-5.
Both teams play each other again at 6:30 p.m. next Thursday at Disbrow Park.
