Weather Alert: More Snow Headed Toward Southern Westchester County

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued; brace for some accumulations Wednesday night into Thursday in Rye.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for tonight through 7 p.m. Thursday in several Westchester County communities, with as much as a combined seven inches of snow during the period.

Unlike some of the recent snow storms, this one could hit the communities along the Interstate 95 corridor harder than many of the Northern Westchester towns.

Rain and sleet will fall throughout the area during the day Wednesday, with snow becoming the dominant precipitation late Wednesday night into Thursday. The snow will not taper off until late Thursday afternoon, according to forecasters.

“Some of the snow will fall from late Wednesday night to Thursday morning in the heavily-populated Interstate-95 corridor from Washington, D.C., and Baltimore to Philadelphia and New York City,” writes AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. “Motorists should be prepared for a slippery Thursday morning commute.”
