Bayport Woman Charged With DWI After Fatal Crash
A passenger in the 21-year-old woman's SUV was killed after the vehicle struck a tree early Sunday, police say.

MIDDLE ISLAND, NY- A 21-year-old Bayport woman is charged with DWI following a crash in Middle Island early Sunday that killed a passenger in her SUV, Suffolk Police said.
According to police, Dawn Pierce was driving a 2007 Ford Edge south on Wading River Hollow Road when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree about 100 yards south of Scenic Hills Drive at 2:37 a.m.
Pierce’s front seat passenger, Jacqueline Grawunder, 24, of Yaphank, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two backseat passengers, Alexander Rikimoto, 21, of Shirley, and Michael Rempe, 22, of Franklin Square, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Pierce was also taken to Stony Brook, where she was admitted with serious injuries. Pierce was charged with DWI and will be arraigned at a later date.
