Bayport Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Robbing 2 Banks
DA says the woman "cased" a Blue Point bank before robbing a Babylon bank a few hours later.

A Bayport woman accused of robbing two banks earlier this month pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning in a Riverhead court, authorities said.
Julia Rigby, 44, is charged with two counts of third degree robbery and one count of reckless driving. Rigby was arrested on April 10 after robbing Babylon’s New York Commercial Bank and then crashing into a fence while fleeing police, police said.
Rigby, who worked as a chimney service telemarketer, passed notes to the teller in both robberies–the other was at an HSBC Bank in West Babylon on April 2–claimed she had a gun and demanded $10,000 in cash, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

Rigby had dye on her clothes from an exploded dye pack, and the cash and dye pack were recovered from her 2001 Ford Taurus after she was arrested, Spota said.
Rigby may have been targeting a Blue Point bank before she robbed the Babylon bank, Spota said.

“There is evidence she cased another bank on April 2, the Capital One Bank in Blue Point where she had done her own personal banking,” he said. “She left the bank soon after being recognized by one of the employees.”
Rigby is being held in county jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
Police have not released a mugshot of Rigby citing “investigative reasons.”
