A Long Island Treasure

Children's Museum of the East End a real Summer find!

Yesterday my grandchildren and I discovered one of LI's little-known treasures: the Children's Museum of the East End. This 5 year old operation is delightful: spacious, uncrowded, colorful and very creative. It is located on Bridgehampton to Sag Harbor Road, at the eastern end of Bridgehampton. For the admission price of $9.00 per child and adult, we had a whole day of fun

There are clever exhibits including a fire station, soda fountain, farmers market, potato chip factory, pirate ship and wind power station. There were plenty of costumes for the kids to put on at each exhibit. The art studio was stocked with clay, paint, paper, scraps and crayons. A sand table and giant playground set waited outside in the big play area. An indoor gym with foam cubes, balls and car track was a favorite with both my 5 and 8 yr. old. Everything was very educational and related specifically to Long Island's natural resources and history. I can't praise this venue enough and am so happy I heard of it. (A child at the Sayville Farmer's Market told me about it!)  It is open every day from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., except Tuesdays and is geared for kids ages 2-7.  Visit www.cmee.org for more information.
