Cops: Patchogue Man, Son Charged in Beverage Delivery Scheme

A father and son working for a Long Island beer distributor caused a $2,300 loss to a Great Neck store by shorting deliveries and then completing the orders by removing stock from the store’s own inventory and adding to the new invoice, Nassau Police said.

Sean O’Leary, 48, of Patchogue, and Sean O’Leary Jr., 24, of Hudson, Fla., surrendered to Crimes Against Property detectives on Friday, police said.

The pair, who were employed by East Yaphank-based Clare Rose Inc., ran the scheme at a Rite Aid located at 50 Great Neck Road from June-July 2014, police said.

Both men are charged with fourth degree grand larceny. They pleaded not guilty while being arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.

An attorney for the O’Learys told Newsday that his clients “adamantly dispute the charges” and the alleged scheme may have been a “mistake in the invoices.”
