Man Fatally Struck by Train in Sayville
The accident occurred Thursday evening, authorities say.

SAYVILLE, NY - A man was killed when he was struck by a train in Sayville Thursday evening, LIRR officials said.
The accident occurred around 4:55 p.m. near the Cherry Avenue crossing. The train involved was scheduled to leave Babylon at 4:28 p.m. and arrive in Patchogue at 4:58 p.m.
Authorities have not identified the man who was struck. It is unclear why he was on the tracks.

“LIRR eastbound service on the Montauk Branch is extremely limited and westbound service is suspended due to an ongoing police investigation between Oakdale and Sayville,” the LIRR said on its website.

Westbound
The 5:26PM train from Patchogue due Babylon at 5:58PM is being held at Patchogue due to an unauthorized person on the tracks being struck by a train near Great River.
The 2:51PM train from Montauk due Jamaica at 5:50PM is being delayed at Sayville due to police activity.
Eastbound
The 5:10PM train from Babylon due Speonk at 6:10PM is operating one hour and forty-six minutes late due to an ongoing police investigation between Oakdale and Sayville.
The 4:28PM train from Long Island City due Patchogue at 6:14PM is canceled at Babylon due to an ongoing police investigation between Oakdale and Sayville. Customers will be accommodated by the next eastbound train to Speonk.
The 4:28PM train from Babylon due Patchogue at 4:58PM is being delayed at Sayville due to police activity.
