Sayville High School Names Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Salutatorian
Top students recognized for academic excellence in Sayville

SAYVILLE, N.Y. — Mackenzie Schutte and Anthony Artusa have been named the Class of 2026 valedictorian and salutatorian at Sayville High School.
Both students earned weighted GPAs exceeding 107, reflecting their commitment to challenging coursework, including numerous Advanced Placement and honors classes, and consistent academic excellence across all subject areas. Each has also been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction by the College Board.
“Mackenzie and Anthony truly embody the very best of Sayville High School,” Principal Stephanie Bricker said. “Their dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence set them apart as outstanding role models within our school community. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished, and it is a true honor to have them represent the Class of 2026.”

Schutte serves as co-president of the Science National Honor Society, an ambassador for Morgan’s Message, and a member of the Principal’s Advisory Committee. She is also involved in the National Honor Society, World Languages Honor Society, and Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. She is a varsity athlete on the girls' lacrosse team and participates in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
Artusa serves as the ex officio student representative to the Sayville Board of Education, where he attends board meetings and provides student insight on district initiatives and school matters. He is also a member of the Principal’s Advisory Committee, Student Climate Advisory Committee, Future Business Leaders of America and Mathletes. He holds membership in the National Honor Society, World Languages Honor Society, and Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. In addition, he is an accomplished musician who plays alto saxophone in the school’s wind ensemble.

“Mackenzie and Anthony represent the highest standards of achievement and character in our school community,” Superintendent Dr. Marc Ferris said. “Earning the distinction of valedictorian and salutatorian is a remarkable accomplishment, reflecting years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. We are incredibly proud of their success and confident that they will continue to make a positive impact in all of their future endeavors.”
