Beloved Local Hairdresser Critically Injured in Fall, Community Rallies

Friends have kicked off a GoFundMe to help the local woman, who has no medical benefits or sick time.

FLANDERS, NY - The community is opening their hearts to help a local hairdresser who was critically injured in a fall on Sunday.

According to a GoFundMe, "Lisa's Medical Fund," set up by Tracey Penny Densieski, Lisa Mariotti is a Flanders resident and hardworking hairdresser, 26, who fell 15 feet in a "terrible accident" while she and her boyfriend were renovating their first home, which they'd just acquired.

"Lisa Mariotti grew up and went to school here in Riverhead. She has worked here and has a group of amazing friends and family. I think it is amazing that when you have a tragedy such as this that the community rallies together and supports one of their own. I think it is that simple,' Densieski said.

The page has raised $2,320 of its $5,000 goal in just two hours.

Lisa, Densieski said, "fell 15 feet through the hole where they were putting stairs and hit her head on the concrete basement floor."

She was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital and is in critical condition with a brain injury.

"As most of you know, and as I know very well being a hairdresser myself, there usually are no benefits sand no sick time. If you don't work, you don't get paid," she said.

Although Densieski said there are many appeals for help, "Any amount is never too little."

Lisa, she added, has a twin sister, as well as her boyfriend and parents, who have not left her side. "She has a beautiful niece and extended family and friends praying for a complete recovery. This is a local family who can really use our help."
