Drunk Man Drives Into Post Office Loading Dock: Police

The driver was charged with felony DWI and leaving the scene, police said.

WATER MILL, NY - A drunk driver plowed right into the Water Mill Post Office loading dock recently, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, the incident took place on Saturday, May 21 at 6:28 a.m. in the parking lot of the Water Mill Post Office on Montauk Highway.

Southampton Town Police Department arrested Julio Bermeo, 40, of Flanders, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, a felony, as well as leaving the scene of an accident, open alcohol in a motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation, traffic infractions, police said.

Police received a call of a man operating a white van that was driving into the loading dock at the location, authorities said.

Upon arrival, police located and identified Bermeo and determined he was intoxicated, police said. He was arrested and held for morning arraignment, police said.
