East End DWI Task Force Nets 3 in Graduation Weekend Crackdown: Police

SOUTHAMPTON, NY - Three drunk drivers were nabbed in a graduation weekend crackdown by the East End DWI Task Force, police said.

Southampton Town Police hosted one segment of Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota's East End DWI Task Force beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday through 4 a.m. Sunday.

Three others were charged with minor offenses, police said.

Saturation patrols were utilized throughout town; 69 vehicles were stopped and the operators screened for impaired driving, police said.

Police said the three charged with DWI were:

Anthony John Valle, 51 of Hampton Bays: Valle was stopped at 11:02 p.m. on Springville Road, Hampton Bays after he was observed disobeying a red light at the intersection of Flanders Road and Montauk Highway, police said. Upon further investigation he was found to be intoxicated, police said.

Yaritza Attias, 22, of Yonkers, NY: Attias was stopped at 12:32 a.m. for speeding westbound on Sunrise Highway in Eastport between Exits 62 and 63, police said. Upon further investigation she was found to be intoxicated and to have a suspended driver’s license, police said.

William MacDougal, 50, of Riverhead: MacDougal was observed stopped with the driver’s door open and vehicle running in the entranceway to the westbound rest area of Flanders Road, police said. Upon further investigation he was found to be in an intoxicated condition, police said.

All arrested were processed at Southampton Town Police Headquarters and held for a morning arraignment, police said.

The task force consisted of eight members comprised of officers from the Southampton Town Police Department, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, the Southampton Village Police Department, the East Hampton Town Police Department and the East Hampton Village Police Department.
