Emergency Responders Rush to Fire on Flanders Road

The fire broke out just after 9 p.m., officials said.

FLANDERS, NY - Firefighters and first responders, along with police, rushed to the scene of a blaze on Flanders Road Thursday evening, police said.

Flanders FIre Department Chief J.J. Lennon said the fire broke out in the chimney upstairs, causing heavy smoke conditions.

Flanders firefighters knocked down the blaze quickly, in about 15 minutes. One male resident was evacuated without injury, but the home was "heavily damaged," Lennon said.

Flanders Fire Department and Riverhead Fire Department and ambulance first responders responded to the scene, he said. A neighbor across the street reported the smoke, Lennon said.

According to Southampton Town police, the fire broke out just after 9 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
