Heroic Rescue as Bay Constables Save Fisherman Screaming for Help in Shinnecock Inlet
Southampton Town Police said the rescue took place Monday morning after a man casting his line slipped on the rocks.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY - In a heroic rescue, Southampton Town bay constables saved a man screaming for help in the Shinnecock Inlet Monday.
According to Southampton Town Police, the save took place on Monday at 9:10 a.m. when the bay constables received reports of the man, crying out for help on the west jetty of the Shinnecock Inlet after he fell in.
Southampton Town Senior Bay Constable Al Tuzzolo and Bay Constable Alfred Greenwald responded to the scene where they quickly located Mr Robert Biangazza, 56, of Ronkonkoma, clinging to the jetty with his lower body hanging in the water, police said.

He was being held by Carl Rohn of Hampton Bays, police said.
Rohn was able to call out to another person and have them call 911, police said.

Bay Constable Greenwald was able to climb down and secure a safety line around the victim and, once secure, Bay Constable Tuzzolo was able to pull Biangazza to safety, police said.
Biangazza was treated by the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance for minor cuts and bruises and released; Biangazza said he was casting his fishing line when he slipped and fell on the rocks, police said.
