Update: Police Identify Pedestrian Struck, Killed on County Road 39 Friday Night
No charges were filed against the driver of the vehicle, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON PATCH - Update: 3:37 p.m.: Police have identified the man who died after being struck by a vehicle in Southampton last night as Claude Eleazer, 37, of Southampton. Police said he was crossing the road when he was struck. The road was closed for two hours for the investigation, police said, and the vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Eleazer was a member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation, sources said.

According to Southampton Town Police Sgt. Michael Joyce, the accident took place at 10:30 p.m. on County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Lane, when a female motorist, 26, driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz and heading west struck a pedestrian in the road, police said.
The victim was transported to Southampton Hospital by Southampton Ambulance and pronounced dead, Joyce said.

No charges were filed in the accident, Joyce said.
The investigation is ongoing.
