Southampton Man Drives Drunk, Crashes into Tree: Police

The man was charged felony DWI due to a prior conviction within the last 10 years, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY - A Southampton man was busted early Sunday after he drove drunk and crashed his pickup into a tree, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Anacleto Bartolon-Ortiz, 38, was arrested Sunday at 3:31 a.m. after a report of an accident on Suffolk Road in Hampton Bays.

Police said Bartolon-Ortiz drove his gold pickup into a tree; he was found to be intoxicated, arrested, and charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony, due to a prior conviction within 10 years, police said.

Bartolon-Oritz was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, a felony; unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failing to maintain lane of travel, both traffic violations, police said.

He was held overnight at Southampton Town police headquarters for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
