Unlicensed Riverhead Man Nabbed with Hashish, Marijuana in North Sea: Police

The man was stopped for equipment violations, police said.

NORTH SEA, NY - A Riverhead man was caught with hashish and marijuana in North Sea, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, members of the community response unit were on patrol on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. when an officer observed a vehicle with equipment violations.

The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver, Hayden Dixon, 24, of Riverhead, police said.

The officer checked his license with the Department of Motor Vehicles and found that the Dixon’s driving privileges were suspended, police said.

During the investigation, the officer noticed that there was a quantity of hashish in Dixon’s vehicle in plain view, and placed Dixon under arrest, police said.

Further investigation revealed that he was in possession of an additional quantity of marijuana, police said.

Dixon was taken to Southampton Town Police headquarters and charged with aggravated unlicensed in the third degree, equipment violations for broken glass and illegal window tint, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

Dixon was given a field appearance ticket to appear at Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date, police said.
