Volunteers Attempt to Rescue Hawk Stuck in Tree
The hawk got caught in a tree behind the Water Mill Post Office on Monday night.

Volunteers from both the Southampton Fire Department and Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center in Hampton Bays attempted to rescue a hawk stuck in a tree behind the Water Mill Post Office on Monday night, according to 27east and The East Hampton Star.
According to Bette Lou Fletcher of Sag Harbor, a volunteer for the rescue center, the hawk, which was a Cooper’s hawk, was found hanging upside down 35 feet up in the tree, according to The East Hampton Star.

The hawk’s leg got caught in the branch of a tree, according to 27east.
The firefighters had to use a hook and ladder truck to attempt to rescue the hawk. However, while trying to rescue it, the hawk died, according to 27east.
