UPDATE: Saturday, Jan. 23, 3:38 p.m.

Due to the snowstorm the Village of Sleepy Hollow said alternate street parking for snow emergency designated streets took effect Saturday, Jan. 23 at 7 a.m.

Residents are asked to follow the “snow emergency” signage in their area to allow plows to get through and clean the streets.

Cars will be towed if not moved.

Due to the snowstorm the village of Tarrytown is under a snow emergency, effective Saturday, Jan. 23 at 6 a.m.

UPDATE: Sat., Jan. 23, 1 p.m.

Supervisor Paul Feiner issued an alert from the Town of Greenburgh.

PLEASE REMOVE CARS FROM STREET -- MAKES IT HARDER TO CLEAR ROADS. ROADS ARE SLIPPERY. YOU SHOULD STAY INDOORS IF POSSIBLE. OUR CREWS ARE OUT BUT IT’S GOING TO BE A LONG DAY, WITH MORE SNOW COMING DOWN ALL DAY LONG.

Spent the AM updating the list of snow angel volunteers. Expect to receive a lot of calls tomorrow asking for help with snow removal.

If you or your son/daughter are interested in helping neighbors remove snow please provide me with following information:

Name...phone...e mail...neighborhoods they are willing to help out at...do they expect to get paid or are they willing to volunteer if the person is on a fixed income...when can they help (weekend only or during week)...do they have a shovel or snow blower?

Are snow angels interested in only helping those who have medical needs (last year, for example I shoveled the driveway of two frail elderly residents who needed a path so food could be delivered to them or so emergency personnel could get them out of the house if there was a medical issue) or are they willing to help anyone? Please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com

It appears we’ll be going to sleep Saturday to snow falling in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

(Too bad the football playoffs weren’t on Saturday, it would have been a perfect day for it with many of us snowed in.)

As of 11AM, the National Weather Service predicted accumulation of 24-30 inches locally.

Dealing with power issues, Con Ed advises:

DO NOT touch a fallen power line or any other electrical equipment. Keep children and pets away from all fallen wires. If you see downed power lines or fallen wires please contact ConEd immediately at 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).

If a power line falls on a car or vehicle you’re in, don’t get out, and don’t touch anything outside it. The vehicle’s rubber tires will provide insulation and protect you until help arrives. Wait for police, fire, or emergency service workers.

DO NOT touch or try to fix any power lines, electrical equipment, or wires on your own. If you notice a problem, call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).
